Research Associates Publications / Alexander Pershái

Alexander Pershái, Ph.D. (Cultural Studies, Trent University), is the Managing Editor, Executive Communications and Development Specialist for the electronic newsletter of the International Association for the Humanities “The Bridge-MOCT” (www.thebridge-moct.org). He is the Assistant Professor at the Department of Media Studies and the Centre for Gender Studies of the European Humanities University, and the Head Editor of a new educational feminist journal "Women in Politics: New Approaches to the Political" ("Zhenschiny v politike: novye podkhody k politicheskomu"). He has developed and coordinated various academic and activist conferences, seminars, media and communications projects. His areas of specialization include: Slavic studies, Russian and Eastern European studies, development studies, diaspora, theory of nationalism, post-socialist Belarus, nationalism in Eastern Europe, minorities studies, language and national identity, 'national literature' as an institution, dictionaries and archiving, media technologies and organization of knowledge, gender, language and power, transgender, transformation of academia. Pershái edited “Negotiating Space for Gender Studies: Frameworks and Applications” (Frankfurt: Peter Lang, 2005). His works are published in “Nationalities Papers”, “East European Politics and Societies”, “Europe-Asia Studies”, “Slavia Orientalis”, “Neprikosnovennyi Zapas”, “Forum Noveishey vostochnoevropeiskoy istorii i kultury”, “Gendernyie Issledovania”, “Ab Imperio” and other peer-reviewed journals.
